Audiobook Description:
Jillian Nejat is the only dating and relationship expert on the planet who is incapable of speaking to men. If they’re living, if they’re breathing, it’s game over.
With her bank account at zero, her career a dumpster fire, and her dating life in a ten-year slump, she moves into a tiny, dirt-cheap NYC apartment. Unfortunately, the apartment is already occupied: Daniel (no-last-name) is a sexy, shirtless, six-pack wielding heartthrob who is also…dead. He isn’t living. He isn’t breathing. He’s a ghost. He’s also the only man on the planet who Jillian can talk to.
Soon, Daniel’s convinced that it’s his afterlife mission to resurrect Jillian’s love life. He knows, if he helps her fall in love then he can move on. Jillian agrees. The last thing she needs is a Lothario ghost haunting her living room. But then, one practice date leads to another, one confession leads to more, and suddenly Jillian fears she’s falling for the one man she can never have.
Jessica’s Review:
This is another romance that I overall enjoyed! And I just didn’t know how it was going to end as we have so many turns! How could it be a HEA (Happy Ever After) when one is dead and a ghost and the other is alive? I didn’t know if we were going to have an ending like the movie Ghost or something else. I had some ideas in my head, and one went along the way the book did, with some differences! We definitely had character development with both Jillian and Daniel with part of it being Jillian not being able to talk to men at all. I wasn’t really a fan of that as it wasn’t really resolved other than she wasn’t able to talk to men then suddenly she was able to. That could have been left out with her just being extremely shy. It seems longer for a romance novel at just over 450 pages/ 14 hours for the audio, but it kept moving the whole time! Jillian is a huge Star Trek nerd and there were references throughout the novel, so if you know Star Trek at all, you will catch them. But if you don’t know a thing about Star Trek it will go over your head. The narrators (it is mainly Sarah Naughton narrating) did a very good job portraying the characters. There was some spicy to the story. I’d say a 2 out of 5 on the spice level. This is my second Sarah Ready novel I have listened to this year, and I think I will keep a lookout for her with other novels she writes!
Many thanks to the publisher for granting me an alc to listen to and review!
