Book Description:

Like father, like Son?

Vera Harlow is a survivor. After a chance encounter led to her being held captive in a disgusting house of horrors, she fought tooth and nail to escape the clutches of a man known only as The Slob. But while she may have fled the disastrous situation, the details of her struggle are now carved into her flesh and soul.

Vera’s son is the product of utter depravity. Harold, the sinister seed left by the man who took everything from her, continues to blossom in nauseating fashion. His features and habits are stomach-churning, vividly familiar, and becoming more disturbing by the day. Determined to coax out the bright side of her child that she sees an occasional glimpse of, Vera strives for normalcy. But will the faint light she’s chasing shine through the darkness or will she be left cleaning up another gruesome mess?

Kim’s Review:

Why do I do this to myself?? And the fact that I feel so horrible about myself when I say that this was a good book … I mean it was really bad, but it was also good. It’s just confusing!! I literally felt sick reading it, more so than The Slob! But I also keep thinking about it and pondering it! I’ve decided that I’m not about gore for gore’s sake. And I sincerely doubt I’ll be reading anything else like The Slob series. However, I’m glad I read them, and while I can’t say that I “enjoyed” them, they definitely had an effect and they’ve stayed with me. Son of the Slob, in some ways, is worse than The Slob. It’s easy to see the villain in The Slob. In Son, my gosh, you get a cold, hard look at humanity at its worst! Definitely not for everybody, but those hardcore horror fans will definitely like it!!

Book Description:

Some stains don’t come out…

Raised in a household that was so filthy it was stomach spilling, Vera has become a neat-freak. Her obsession with cleanliness sprouts the concept that her skills can be put to use in a unique way. In an effort to generate some income for her and her disabled husband Daniel just prior to the birth of their first child, she takes aim at the booming door to door sales business of the late 80s.

All is going well until she arrives at the steps of a house she wished she never had. The steps of an evil that brings back the ghastly memories she so desperately tried to wash away.

Nothing will prepare you for the nastiness, disorder and uncleansable horror brought forth by… The Slob.

Kim’s Review:

What even is my life right now? I think this book was pushing it, even for me! It was nasty. The detail, not just of the crimes, the violations, the abuse, but even the state of the filthy houses. I’m not a big gore fan; normally it doesn’t bother me and I’m not really drawn to the sub genre. But I’ll give it to Beauregard, this book made me genuinely uncomfortable. However, has it stuck in my brain. I was set to give it 3 stars and to conclude that it was well done, just not for me. But several days later, I’m still thinking about this book. I’m even considering reading the sequel. The idea terrifies me, but I think I’m gonna do it. This book absolutely is not for everyone. I don’t believe in trigger warnings, but if any book needs one, it’s The Slob! But, I’m glad I read it … and I think I’ll read the sequel.
