Jessica’s Reading Room is 10 Years Old!
Who would have thought my little blog would see its 10th birthday!?!?! That’s right: Jessica’ Reading Room is 10 years old today!
A lot of life has happened in that ten years and a lot of reading! I still enjoy reading and sharing my thoughts with you! I don’t have the largest number of followers, but it is not about that. It’s about sharing the book love! I wish I could be more active on Facebook and Instagram, but working over 40 hours a week can and is tiring! And lately my reading of physical books/ kindle has dropped in the past couple of months due to currently watching True Crime documentaries. You can thank The Crash on Netflix for that: I totally went down the rabbit hole with that one and watched as much as I could as the Netflix documentary was just not giving the whole story.
But back to reading…You may have seen on Instagram or Facebook but I got some very exciting book mail this week. The first novel of author JD Barker’s prequel trilogy of the original 4MK trilogy comes out in September and I received this wonderful package. Many thanks to JD Barker and his publisher Hampton Creek Press for the #bookmail!
This is a trilogy about a serial killer! The order of the trilogy is:
The Fourth Monkey
The Fifth to Die
The Sixth Wicked Child
I have only read the first two in the trilogy, and I will need to reread them so I can read the third before I get to the prequel: The First Scarlet Door. I had gotten the 4MK trilogy on Audible earlier this year in anticipation of this new book, but now having received an arc (advanced reading copy), I think my reading for the next couple of months has been decided for me!

Band Geeks by Lara Hope Hayes (This one is SIGNED and she is a local to me author!)
The Chaperone by M. Hendrix (I gave this one 4.5 stars, and this is a hardback copy. This is like a YA version of The Handmaid’s Tale, and I really hope that one day the story will continue!)

We Are SEVEN!
Who would have thought that Jessica’s Reading Room is SEVEN years old today!
Almost all of my free time is dedicated to blogging and sharing the book love: BUT as long as I still enjoy doing it, that is what matters! I started my blog for me first and it may not be a blog with a huge following (which I am fine with ) I still do have people looking at what I think and this is great! It’s crazy to think that people actually read about what I have to say about books! I just wish I had more free time to explore the social media side, but working over 40 hours a week with an hour commute one way, really cuts down on the reading time! BUT I do listen to audiobooks in the car!

Jessica’s Reading Room is Six!
Spread the news: Jessica’s Reading Room is six years old! We are far from the biggest blog, but we are the best! (We may be biased, but that’s ok!) I mean… life is busy in general and Jessica works around 43 hours a week, so she gets tired. We can usually get what we want done. I wish I could do more, but as long as I still enjoy doing it, that is what matters! I started my blog for me first and it may not be a blog with a huge following (which I am fine with ) I still do have people looking at what I think and this is great! It’s crazy to think that people actually read about what I have to say about books!
And we have Kim as well who brings her own flair to things here at JRR: She does her monthly video wrap ups, has a You Tube channel, does semi-weekly book giveaways, and she also heads up the Most Gorgeous Cover contest on the Facebook page which we have moved up to quarterly now! We just find so many gorgeous covers. Yes, we admit it: We judge books by its cover!
But today we PARTY! Have some cake with us to celebrate!
Kim hasn’t been here the whole life of JRR, but she’s been here for most of it! Between the two of us, we cover a huge variety of genres! ( Some Smut included… HA!) Kim has a few things to say as well:
6 years! And what fun years they’ve been too! Jessica is easily the best boss I’ve had in every way! I didn’t think I’d be any good at reviewing books, but because of her, I’ve been able to try all kinds of new things and adjusted the way I read books. I’m living the dream because she gave me the opportunity! So here’s to 6 years and to many more ahead!!
We may have some differences in selected genres of choice to read, but we still respect each other in those opinions! We keep politics out of the page for the most part (unless it is a book being reviewed, then we still try to keep it tame) And Kim is Team DC while Jessica is Team Marvel….
