My October 2025 Reads

It’s already November?!?! At times this year has gone by so quickly and at times it has taken forever! Before we get too far into November, I am going to share the books I read in October!
I read five books. Four of the books were audio and one was a paperback Halloween Advent book: A chapter a day leading up to the conclusion on Halloween!
Here are the books I completed in October. They are listed in the order that I finished them:
The Long Walk by Stephen King as Richard Bachman- 5 stars
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt- 5 stars
The Intruder by Freida McFadden-3 stars
Sonora by Jenni L Walsh- 5 stars
The 31st Trick-or-Treater by Ben Farthing- 3.5 stars

My ‘top rated read’ was Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. This was a book club read and had been on my TBR for a while! I went between the audiobook and a paperback copy. I adored this book and recommend it on audio! I am excited for the Netflix film that should be coming out next year.
My lowest rated read was The Intruder by Freida McFadden. I won’t say much more than what my review will say, which will post on November 13th. But Freida, it’s really time to take a break from writing for a while.
What did YOU read in October? Let’s bring on reading in November: One book I am reading on kindles is yet another horror advent style book, a chapter a day until Thanksgiving: I Bought a Haunted Thanksgiving Table by Sam Whittaker. Let’s see how this one goes!
My September 2025 Reads

It’s September 30th and time to share what I read this month!
I read six books and one short story. Five of the books were audio, AND I completed my goal to finish The Survivor Wants to Die at the End by Adam Silvera! Two of the books were memoirs.
Here are the books I completed in September. They are listed in the order that I finished them:
Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom by Christine Brown Wooley- 4 stars
The Hitchhikers by Chevy Stevens- 4 stars
The Survivor Wants to Die at the End by Adam Silvera- 4 stars
Orion’s Story Does Not Die at the End by Adam Silvera- 3.5 stars (short story)
The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path by Emma Heming Willis- 5 stars
The Vile Thing We Created by Robert P. Ottone- 4 stars
Reverence by Raena Rood– 4 stars

My ‘top rated read’ was The Unexpected Journey by Emma Heming Willis. This covers her and her husband’s journey as they go through FTD. I am not currently going through a caregiver life situation, but Heming Willis gives informative information on FTD and also shares her current journeyas a caregiver, and what caregivers need for themselves. If a caregiver can’t help themselves first then they are unable to help care for ‘their person’.
My lowest rated read was the short story from the They Both Die Universe: Orion’s Story Does Not Die at the End. Not that it was not good, it just really did not add the TBD universe.
What did YOU read in September? Let’s bring on October and my favorite holiday: HALLOWEEN!
Even better: I found an advent book calendar for Halloween this year! More info will come tomorrow…
[Top]My August 2025 Reads

Hello September and the ‘ber months!! I am ready for Fall and everything that comes with it!
I completed six books in August and they were all audiobooks. Who says audiobooks are not reading? Definitely NOT me! Two of those audiobooks were Freida McFadden as well.
GOAL FOR SEPTEMBER: I WILL finish The Survivor Wants to Die at the End by Adam Silvera. I was hoping to finish it in August, but that did not happen. I did make it from 31% to 64%. I am on page 461/720. Setting this goal, I WILL finish it! 😊 Just remember how long this one is and I don’t have a lot of time working 9.5- 10 hours a day, five days a week. And these last two weeks of August I worked 100 hours (From normally 40 hours to 50 hours a week). This coming check will be a big one, but I’m tired!
Here are the books I completed in August. They are listed in the order that I finished them:
The Tenant by Freida McFadden- 4 stars
It’s a Date (Again) by Jeneva Rose- 3.5 stars
The Names by Florence Knapp- 4 stars
The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden- 4 stars
The Otherworld by Abbie Emmons- 3 stars
The Measure by Nikki Erlick- 5 stars

My ‘favorite read’ was The Measure by Nikki Erlick. I really enjoy speculative fiction and the way this novel went, it just seems like this is how the world would go if one day we all woke up and had a box with a string in it that would tell us how long our life was going to be (or not be). All the characters were interconnected and I came close to tearing up at the end!
I have decided to change from ‘least favorite read’ to ‘lowest rated read’. “Least favorite’ just has a bad connotation to it when it might not have been a ‘bad’ book for me and I don’t want to say this unless the book is one or two stars…
My lowest rated read was The Otherworld by Abbie Emmons. This book… Well, it’s YA as the main character just turned 18, but a love triangle with two brothers. I did not have a problem with the age difference between Orca and Adam (she is 18 and he is 28), but her living on an island with just her father, she has an innocence and then her naiveté that made her come off younger. In some ways this reminded me of Disney’s The Little Mermaid with Ariel and Eric. But no villain.
