Book Description:

A guy told me he loved me tonight.

Peyton Sanders hopes it’s not too late to say it back. Done with dead-end relationships and swiping right, she knows who her heart belongs to. But as she races to tell him how she feels, she’s hit by a car and wakes up with amnesia. It gets worse. Peyton has no clue who the three men who show up at her hospital bed are except they each claim to be her boyfriend.

They’re certainly worth remembering. A rustic-looking contractor—heaven in flannel. A tailored consultant with a smile to die for. And a tattooed chef with a box of homemade chocolates, both delicious. Peyton’s friends Maya and Robbie have an idea: date each man again. Recognizing her soulmate should be as easy as one, two, three.

On a wildly romantic and dizzyingly funny journey, Peyton runs once again toward love. This time, hopefully, her heart can guide her where her mind cannot.

Jessica’s Review:

This was my first rom com by Jeneva Rose. I know her for her thrillers, but enjoy rom coms, so I was looking forward to listening to this one.  And January LaVoy is the narrator, so I was definitely listening to it when I saw that!

It’s a Date (Again) is a fun and very quick read. We have Peyton who realizes that she is in love and rushes to tell THE guy and then… well… She is hit by a car. When she wakes up she has amnesia…. And three very good-looking men all saying that he is her boyfriend.  Who is Peyton in love with? No one knows, not even her two best friends Maya and Robbie! Being her best friends, Maya and Robbie come up with an idea: Date all three men to figure out who Peyton is in love with. The men agree and we have a fun version of the Bachelorette.  But things get complicated as time goes on.

I enjoyed this one.  I did guess who ‘the one’ was at 28% in. I would have enjoyed the book more if I had not guessed correctly. It is a feel good and clean rom com. If you enjoy rom coms or Jeneva Rose novels, give this one a read (or listen!).

Book Description:

The first audio original from Jeneva Rose, the author of blockbuster bestseller The Perfect Marriage, #CrimeTime is a full-cast mystery written with her husband, Drew Pyne, perfect for fans of Only Murders in the Building and Finley Donovan Is Killing It.

Going viral has never been so dangerous.

Nadiya loves her privacy: living alone and writing a popular series of crime novels under a pen name, she’s worked hard to build the quiet life she cherishes. But all that changes when her long-lost half-brother Chase comes to town, needing a place to stay until he can get back on his feet. Chase’s dream job is Nadiya’s worst nightmare: he’s an aspiring TikTok star, oversharing on the internet at every opportunity.

When a burglary occurs in the apartment upstairs, Chase decides to film and post all the action. Unbeknownst to him, this was not a random break-in, but a targeted operation run by dangerous criminals. Overnight, Chase’s videos go viral, garnering millions of views and amassing a huge following of loyal #Chasers. It’s everything he’s ever dreamt of, except the attention has brought the wrong kind of heat. Chase and Nadiya are plunged into a world of organized crime, and together, they must uncover the truth and clear their names before they become the next victims.

Performed by a full cast and filled with both laugh-out-loud banter and shocking twists, #CrimeTime is a delightful romp through the murky, unpredictable realms of crime, family, and the TikTok algorithm.

Jessica’s Review:

This is an audio only novella written by Jeneva Rose and her husband Drew Pyne and I absolutely loved it!  This is an audio production, not just a full cast narration: We get sound effects that enhance everything with the story! I would advise against listening while driving, due to some of these effects (there are gun shots and I was glad I was not driving while listening to the last third of the novella!).

Based off of an actual event in a former apartment which the couple discusses in the authors’ note after the novella ends. This is the first writing collaboration of Jeneva and her husband Drew. I follow her on Instagram partly because of them as a couple as they are just hilarious.  At the time I am writing this review (July 20th) we are waiting on another of their collaborations: The birth of their first child. Hopefully their baby will have made an appearance by the time my review posts on my website (July 29th).

This novella is not to be taken seriously… AT ALL. This. Novella. Is. Satire!   I laughed throughout my listening.  The story does get outlandish, but it was all in total fun! The audio production just makes this story: It’s perfection with it.

The characters are hilarious and the banter between Nadiya and Chase is perfect! Chase is a total Gen Z stereotype and Nadiya is the millennial stereotype.   The story is outlandish, but a very fun journey to go on.

Definitely listen to the author’s note after the novella ends, we have both Jeneva and Drew talking about the real event that is fictionalized in this novella.  We also get to hear them interact back and forth as a married couple.

I really hope that Jeneva Rose and Scott collaborate again, I would love to see these characters all return!  And if you know anything about Ms. Rose and her writing journey, then I can’t help but mention we have a dirty cop named none other than Scott!

Bravo on this novella and full audio production! I really enjoyed this!

Audiobook Description:

After their mother passes, three estranged siblings reunite to sort out her estate.

Beth, the oldest, never left home. She stayed with her mom, caring for her until the very end.

Nicole, the middle child, has been kept at arm’s length due to her ongoing battle with a serious drug addiction.

Michael, the youngest, lives out of state and hasn’t been back to their small Wisconsin town since their father ran out on them seven years before.

While going through their parent’s belongings, the siblings stumble upon a collection of home videos and decide to revisit those happier memories. However, the nostalgia is cut short when one of the VHS tapes reveals a night back in 1999 that none of them have any recollection of. On screen, their father appears covered in blood. What follows is a dead body and a pact between their parents to get rid of it, before the video abruptly ends. Beth, Nicole, and Michael must now decide whether to leave the past in the past or uncover the dark secret their mother took to her grave.

Jessica’s Review:

This one has mixed reviews, and once I saw the Barnes and Nobel special edition cover, I knew if I liked it, I HAD to get that edition! And I did enjoy it, gave it four stars and bought myself that special edition!

It was just a good story for me and nostalgia factor of1999 and all of the references of that ‘easier time of life’.

We have multiple povs, so you know I really enjoyed this one! I enjoyed the ending and again, the title comes into play towards the end of the book. I wasn’t a total fan of the villain’s motives.

When I saw the audiobook had multiple actors doing the narrations, I just has to listen to the book! And January LaVoy is one of my favorite narrators! It was a shorter book, so it could be read quicker if the reader has the time!

Home was my first novel by the author, so I will see what else she writes/ look into her previous novels.
