Why THIS Rom Com Heroine is a little bit different
Should a romantic comedy heroine have a chronic illness? Yes! It’s about time, right? I wrote Love or Your Money Back with a heroine who has relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis. Because frankly, people with chronic illnesses are heroes, so who better to be the hero of the story.
Kat is a go-getting character and can look after herself except sometimes … she can’t. Which makes her feel like she’s running out of time to settle down and have kids.
ALSO she’s also just been dumped by her fiancé for a 21-year-old life coach.
This means she ends up accepting a totally crazy offer. A marketing guru offers to help package, place and promote her for marriage, and she says yes. Does it work? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
We don’t talk much about chronic illness, and often people who suffer ongoing pain don’t want to burden people with that they’re going through. But it’s incredibly common, and whilst researching Love or Your Money Back, I discovered so many heroic people enduring the rollercoaster of MS.
Now – I don’t want you to worry. Love of Your Money Back is a romantic comedy, so Kat absolutely (spoiler alert, but you knew this anyway) gets a happy ending. It might not be the ending you expect, but it is a happy one.
It was an absolute privilege to write about chronic illness, and interview people who are going through pain. You are the biggest heroes of all, and yet your struggles are rarely seen as news-worthy.
I hope, in writing this book, I’m helping us all step into the shoes of someone with chronic illness who is winning at life so much more than sometimes it looks from the outside. I also hope you enjoy Kat’s journey and her happy ever after. xxx

After reading this message from Suzy K Quinn I am all about reading this book due to the heroine having a health issue. I have a sister who has a rare physical disability, which the doctors are still trying to figure out what exactly she has.
